The PAIN of Saving and the JOY of Finding it Later

Pathways Advisory Group, Inc.

What does saving for the distant future feel like?  It can be a bit painful.  For twenty-somethings it’s nearly impossible to imagine the future self who benefits.  Most of us prefer to never see it hit the bank (ex: funding a 401k through paycheck deferrals).  It’s less painful that way!

At the other end of the spectrum, what does it feel like to use that money in retirement?  It’s difficult for me to imagine.  After all those years of saving it must feel a bit strange.  Perhaps it feels a bit like finding money in an old pair of jeans.

This video uses good humor (and a little theft) to explain the pain of losing money and how it relates to saving.  As well as the pleasure of finding money and how it relates to retirement.  It’s a helpful visualization for us savers.  If only we could chat with our future-selves periodically!

Ever want to send your future-self a message?  Futureme.org can make that happen for you.
